In May 2012, the Identity Theft Resource Center launched the ITRC Social Media Survey 2012 in an effort to collect survey responses that would shed light on current practices and concerns directly surrounding the use of social media by children. Information gathered will facilitate the ITRC to develop informative material to educate consumers on the topic. The survey allows parents to examine their approaches to online safety and privacy when it comes to their children. Parents of children in the age group 6 to 17 are encouraged to take the survey. As a token of appreciation for taking a few minutes to take the survey, the ITRC will be entering participating parents into a drawing for a chance to be the winner of one of five $100 gift cards. To complete the survey, and a chance to win $100, parents can visit the ITRC website www.idtheftcenter.org and click on the Do You Have Children Who Use Social Media? link. Parents can also click here to take the survey directly. Survey participation will conclude May 31, 2012, and the five $100 prize winners will be announced the following day, June 1, 2012. The results of the survey will be released shortly thereafter on the ITRC website.
