Con men have pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns over the Internet, using TurboTax, an online tax filing program.

The South Florida Business Journal reports that the men had access to sensitive documents that contained victims’ names, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers.

The stolen personal information was used to file false federal income tax returns in the names of the unsuspecting victims.

Then, the con men allegedly asked the IRS to direct-deposit the refunds onto TurboTax Green Dot reloadable debit cards.
