The Today Show has joined the ranks of other high-profile media outlets like The New York Times (a rave review that’s fit to print) endorsing PRIVATE WiFi’s cutting-edge personal VPN technology.
Click here to watch the great Today feature segment on technology and online safety. Mario Armstrong, Today’s digital lifestyle contributor, explained that when transmitting sensitive data over public WiFi networks, a personal VPN creates a “secure tunnel” between you and any would-be hackers. Regardless of the underlying network, users’ sensitive information travels via these “tunnels,” encrypting and protecting all traffic between the laptop or mobile device and the VPN gateway.
During the segment, he also set up a “decoy wireless hotspot” to explain that anyone who sets up a fake hotspot can lure in unsuspecting browsers — often referred to as a “man in the middle” attack.
No question, a personal VPN like PRIVATE WiFi is the safer solution for encrypting sensitive personal information in a public WiFi hotspot. PRIVATE WiFi is protection analogous to antivirus and firewalls: it’s so simple to use that once installed, the small green icon indicates that it’s running quietly in the background. It’s that simple.
