Want to hear about a true nightmare for one family? Hacking problems started for one family more than a year ago and led to a police raid last week after the hacker allegedly used the family’s computer to call police, using a technique known as spoofing to mask the origin of the call. Canadian newspaper The Province reports the hacking “soon turned nasty and the hacker gained control of their email accounts, phone numbers, and started posting their personal information online, sometimes with pornographic images attached to them. The hacker even targeted her son’s school, using her husband’s email account to send porn images to the school staff and notes offering cash in exchange for altering their son’s grades.”
