Is the business networking site Linkedin leading to higher rates of online identity fraud?

A Toronto Sun article alleges some high-power business executives in Toronto were scammed after crooks stole personal information to create identities and commit fraud.

The article says thieves may use the site “as a Rolodex of potential fraud victims,” using Linkedin data and photos to create identities and attempt to scam the victims’ friends for cash.
