Prolific Tweeter and privacy writer Larry Magid is out with an interactive slideshow filled with even more online privacy tips.
As he says in this recent HuffPo article, “If hackers get their hands on your usernames and passwords or figure out how to break into one of your accounts, then all privacy bets are off.”
While Magid doesn’t touch on using a personal VPN like PRIVATE WiFi, he does mention the importance of using encryption on wireless networks. As he says, “Don’t enter highly confidential information when connected to a public network.”
That’s because without a personal VPN to scramble — or encrypt — all online communications, even novice hackers can see everything from bank account passwords to Facebook private messages when using a public wireless network.
